Summer Game Fest began on Friday, and there were trailers a plenty! One of the huge highlights of the show, however, was the new trailer for the upcoming Sonic X Shadow Generations. The title is a remaster of the 2011 title Sonic Generations with a new Shadow-centric campaign, and it appears that it will be more than just a bonus episode but essentially a whole new game alongside Sonic Generations.

The Shadow campaign will feature iconic stages that go through Shadow’s history. Stages revealed thus far include Kingdom Valley from 2006’s Sonic the Hedgehog and Rail Canyon from Sonic Heroes. It will also feature an expansive hub world similar to the open-zone gameplay of Sonic Frontiers. Shadow will also sport new “doom powers” that will allow him to explore hidden areas that will uncover more of Shadow’s past. All of this new content will accompany an enhanced port of Sonic Generations, which itself will feature new bonus content and improved visuals. Classic Sonic also gains the drop dash from Sonic Mania.
