A Teaser Trailer For 'Moana 2' Has Been Released
A new teaser trailer for the upcoming animated sequel, Moana 2, has been released. The trailer gives a hint to the plot of this film, setting up both Moana and her village for an adventure like no other. Within 24 hours, it smashed a viewership record as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter, on the first day of being posted, the trailer achieved over 178 million views across platforms, surpassing Pixar’s Inside Out 2 by 20 million and Disney’s Frozen 2 by over 60 million.
Moana 2 is set three years after the first film. The beginning of the trailer uses sound to guide the story, showing Moana pulling a shell from the shore and blowing into another in time with the orchestra’s crescendo. Intense weather strikes the area in one clip before cutting to an echoing percussive moment for the protagonist. Moana acknowledges that what is going on around her people is “a call from the ancestors to sail to new skies,” and to reconnect her people “across the entire ocean.” The Kakamora seem to once again make an appearance among the teased action. Maui makes an appearance at the very end as well, shifting from a sea creature to a bird to his human form.
