Dedicate your hearts, anime, and theater fans! Crunchyroll has announced the international debut of an Attack on Titan stageplay this Fall in New York City.

Attack on Titan: The Musical is a Japanese play based on the fantasy horror manga Attack on Titan by Hajime Isayama, which ran for 34 volumes from 2009 until 2021 in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. The series quickly rose in popularity, selling over 140 million copies worldwide and being translated into 18 different languages, receiving light novels, spinoffs, videogames, a critically panned live-action film series, and a critically acclaimed anime adaptation from WIT Studio and MAPPA that concluded last year.

The stageplay initially premiered in Osaka and Tokyo last year, during which Isayama was able to see his work adapted for theatre. He states, "When I saw the production in Tokyo, I was floored by how powerful it was. I felt that a musical was the perfect medium to express the story of Attack on Titan. The action and the songs by the performers have created a new Attack on Titan that is different from the manga or the anime series. They have created such an amazing show, and I cannot wait for everyone to see it in New York. Please look forward to the opening."
