On Valentine’s Day, Lady Gaga dropped a teaser image from the upcoming Joker sequel, Folie à Deux on Twitter. The image shows Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix as Harley Quinn and the Joker face to face, with Gaga cradling Phoenix’s face in her hands.

Returning director Todd Phillips penned the screenplay alongside Scott Silver, and Guardians of the Galaxy star and long-time Phillips collaborator Bradley Cooper is set to produce. Phillips previously worked with Lady Gaga in A Star is Born, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Shallow.”

Zazie Beets will reprise her role as Sophie Dumond, with Academy Award nominees Catherine Keener and Brendan Gleeson joining the cast. Industry star Harry Lawtey is also set to star in an unnamed role. Little is also known for Keener and Gleeson’s roles. Currently, Joker: Folie à Deux is the only DC film slated for release in 2024.

Thanks to Warner Bros.’s infamous restructuring, the DC sequel is rumored to have a budget of $150 million, doubling the budget of the first movie. The first Joker movie grossed over $1 billion globally and earned $335 billion in North America. It was also the first R-rated film to gross over $1 billion.

Joker: Folie à Deux waltzes into theaters on October 4th, 2024.
