A Live Action 'Watch Dogs' Is In The Works With Sophie Wilde To Star
Game adaptations are a frequent sight in Hollywood these days after the relative success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2, The Last of Us, and even the upcoming Fallout TV show looks spot on.
Ubisoft looks to be trying to capitalize on this recent success by adapting the game Watch Dogs. Mathieu Turi is set to direct, and it’s being written by Christie LeBlanc. Deadline reported yesterday that Sophie Wilde, who played a major part in the A24 horror film Talk To Me, is in talks to star in the upcoming adaptation.

Watch Dogs is an open-world action game that follows Aiden Pearce, a gray hat hacker out for revenge against those who killed his niece. He teams up with a hacktivist group known as DedSec to take on a technology company in Chicago called Blume. They’re behind the launch of an integrative operating system known as ctOS, which connects every device on a single system. There’s a large conspiracy behind it all, and Aiden finds himself the protagonist in the plot to bring them down.
It was followed by a sequel game, Watch Dogs 2, set in San Francisco, and then a third game in a dystopian connected London with Watch Dogs: Legion. The games have been mildly successful, each earning scores that average an 80%. Plot details about this movie are still under wraps, but we’ll keep an eye out for more information.
