4K Ultra HD Release Of 'The Wicker Man' For It's 50th Anniversary
The 1973 horror film The Wicker Man is one of the most quietly influential films of all time. Influencing films like Midsommar and The Sacrament among others, its themes, characters, songs (yes, it’s a musical) and overall style remain powerful even to this day. It follows the attempts of a devoutly Christian police officer named Neil Howie as he attempts to find a missing child on a rural Scottish island.
The main conflict of the film comes both from the fact that the villagers are completely unhelpful to the point where they seem to be actively hindering him at times, and Howie’s Christian faith clashing with the pagan beliefs of the villagers. All of this leads to an ending so shocking that not even the insanity of Nicholas Cage’s remake in 2006 ruins it. Even fifty years later, it still holds up as one of the greatest films that the U.K. has ever produced.

Now it’s getting an update.
On October 17th, 2023, a SteelBook in 4K Ultra HD, along with Blu-ray and Digital will be released. It’s a must-have for any fan of The Wicker Man. Before the release, Lionsgate released a little of the artwork for the Steelbook to get people excited.
So far it’s pre-ordering on sites like Best Buy for $21.99, so it’s not as expensive as one might think for something so detailed. Pre-ordering might be best before you can only get it on Amazon for seventy bucks. Either way, for horror fans, this is something you might want to pick up.
