All Of The References To Kanan Jarrus In 'Ahsoka' So Far
This Article was written before the release of episode 5 of Ahsoka.
Ahsoka has been dubbed as Star Wars: Rebels season five by fans, but one character is missing from the crew of the Ghost. Kanan Jarrus aka Caleb Dume died in season four, although an on-screen death has never stopped Star Wars from resurrecting a character before.
Ahsoka has released four episodes and there is no sign of the Jedi, but there have been multiple easter eggs and references if you have a sharp eye.

7) Sabine’s Mural on Lothal
In Star Wars: Rebels, after the Battle of Lothal, Sabine painted a mural including the Ghost crew and all the major players, including the Loth wolves. In Ahsoka episode one, the painting is still there, showing Kanan Jarrus in all his glory, with his arm around Hera Syndulla.
6) Sightless Lightsaber Training
Training apprentices to use lightsabers when their vision is impaired may have started in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, but it wasn’t only Luke Skywalker and Yoda who practiced the technique onscreen.
Kanan Jarrus trains Ezra Bridger using a helmet with the visor down in season 1 of Star Wars Rebels, and it doesn’t go according to plan either. It’s no surprise it doesn’t work for Sabine Wren. Maybe the Jedi order should give this training method a miss.
5) Jacen Syndulla – ‘I wanna be a Jedi’
Kanan’s son, Jacen Syndulla makes his first appearance in episode three of Ahsoka, and after running on enthusiastically and asking about Sabine, the next words out of his mouth are ‘I wanna be a Jedi’. Just like his daddy…..
By episode four he is having the standard Star Wars ‘bad feelings’ so it's safe to say he’s inherited Kanan Jarrus’ force sensitivity.
4) The Photo of Kanan on Hera’s Dashboard
In episode four of Ahsoka, on the dashboard of the Ghost, viewers can just about make out a photograph of Kanan. Fans have remarked that it looks strikingly similar to Freddy Prinze Jr, the voice of Kanan in Star Wars: Rebels. There’s no word if he posed for the shot, but it wouldn’t be a surprise.
3) The Haircut
In the Star Wars: Rebels episode ‘Jedi Night’ Kanan Jarrus cuts his hair. It’s an acceptance of all of his disparate parts, his former Jedi life, his love for Hera, and his life as a rebel. Satine Wren’s haircut also marks a point where she is ready to accept her path as a Jedi. They also share similar camera angles and methods.
2) Jacen Syndulla’s Armor Plate
When Jacen Syndulla arrives on screen, he’s sporting a very familiar armor plate. It bears the same symbol that Kanan wears on his shoulder throughout Star Wars: Rebels.
1) The Speeder Bike Ride Through Lothal City
In episode one of Ahsoka, there’s a climactic scene where Sabine escapes from the capital city of Lothal via a speeder bike. This is the same route that Kanan takes through Lothal City, when he and the rest of the Spectres first meet Ezra in ‘Spark of Rebellion’ in season one.
Sabine allied with Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati at the end of episode four of Ahsoka in a bid to find Ezra Bridger. It might be worth looking out for another Kanan moment in the next few episodes. Kanan was blinded while he and Ahsoka fought Darth Maul. This was during Ezra’s brief fall to the dark side. Kanan was able to connect to the force and beat back Maul despite his injury. David Filoni has already shown he likes to parallel Sabine Wren and Kanan’s journey, so there’s the possibility of this key scene cropping up.
