Sakaar is an interesting planet you may have heard of.  It has a few different versions in the Marvel Universe, but they all hold similarities.  The following is a list of different things any Marvel fan should know about Sakaar.

7. There Are No Single Native Species

Sakaar doesn’t have one native “Sakaaran” species in the comics, but rather it is home to 4 different species.  These species can’t decide who is the true native of the planet, as it has been many years since the very first one walked the planet.  This causes a lot of debate and fighting among them since no one can come to a final conclusion.

6. The Lay Of The Land Is Dangerous

We know the planet is home to sentient life forms, but it has non-sentient ones as well.  On top of this, the landscape used to be highly varied.  It changed after one moon was destroyed and the Time Stone repaired the ripped apart world. Sakaar previously had oceans, deserts, arctic wastelands, volcanoes, and so much more across its surface.  It was actually the most geographically diverse planet in the system.

5. The Planet Was Once Destroyed

Sakaar came into contact with the recurring Fantastic Four enemy Galactus. The cosmic entity is known for consuming planets to stay alive and sate his hunger.  The being came upon the planet and after easily defeating both the Silver Surfer and the son of the Hulk, Skaar, he consumed Sakaar.  It didn’t stay decimated for long, however.  The Time Stone reemerged and restored the area, embedding itself in the planet’s core until being rediscovered.

Sakaar is the only planet in its home system that has sentient life as its inhabitants.  As previously mentioned, there are 4 main species spread across the planet that don’t quite get along.  On top of this, outsiders from space get stranded here pretty often.  Not only is life sentient, but it’s also moderately diverse.

3. Sakaar Benefits From A Space Vortex

The residents of the planet call it the Great Portal.  When it initially appeared, it destroyed a moon and wrecked the planet’s ecosystem, being seen as the end of the world.  Soon though, it started spewing out technologies and species foreign to their world, and with this came a change of perspective.  The Great Portal became a boon, a source of riches and materials for the people.  They don’t know how it came to be and they don’t know when it will show up since it leaves sporadically.

2. The Planet Couldn't Catch A Break

After the planet was stitched back together, it fell to a warlord who enslaved the citizens.  More intervention from the Hulk family came into play, this time from the Hulk himself.  The warlord regularly forced the clans into a colosseum-like tournament known as The Gauntlet.  Fighting for the Doka’abi, Hulk managed to make it to the final round.  At this point, he completely crushed the warlord and helped his partnered clan to build stronger defenses.

According to the MCU movies, the time moves strangely on Sakaar.  No one seems to know quite how it works. For someone on the planet, a mere few minutes could pass, while someone outside of the system could see several years.  It’s possibly caused by the Great Portal since vortexes can mess with the fabric of space pretty badly.  The involvement of the Time Stone could also be at fault since it literally manipulates time.

There you have it, the planet is pretty intense with a deep history.  Who knew the Hulk family had such a tie to the planet?  The lore is extremely eye-opening and some may possibly connect to the main MCU thanks to She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
