Due to premiere in early 2024, Daredevil: Born Again is going to bring back not only the masked vigilante, Daredevil, a.k.a Matt Murdock, but also the ruthless The Punisher, a.k.a Frank Castle. The Punisher was previously seen locking horns and collaborating with Daredevil in the second season of the Netflix series, Daredevil. They were seen debating if The Punisher’s brutal ways of serving justice were justified. Well, the ex-Marine has done some controversial things while dealing with his foes and has had troubling reasons to take his preferred approach. Here, we list some of the most gruesome things The Punisher has done in the comics while dishing out revenge.

5. Ma Gnucci’s Searing Revenge

Ma Gnucci’s Searing Revenge

Isabella Carmela Magdelena Gnucci, fondly known as ‘Ma’ Gnucci was the matriarch of New York’s Gnucci Mafia family. In the comics, The Punisher burned the Gnucci house down and threw an armless and legless Ma Gnucci into it to burn to death. What makes this all the more gut-wrenching is that Ma Gnucci had been maimed courtesy of The Punisher. Frank killed Ma Gnucci’s three sons and her brother and then fed her to the polar bears of Central Park. While the attack of the polar bears did not kill her, Ma Gnucci was left without arms and legs and understandably obsessed with seeking revenge. She spent all her money and time trying to get The Punisher killed; however, she ended up getting burned in her own house.

In the storyline Punisher Max: The Slavers, Frank wages a war against the prostitution ring called, The Slavers. The Slavers forced young and helpless women into prostitution, killing them if they refused to comply. One of the slaves, Viorica, whose child was killed by the Slavers and who manages to escape them but gets caught by thugs, was rescued by Frank. When The Punisher hears Viorica’s account of what the women have to go through at the Slavers, he decides to decimate the prostitution ring. He first targets one of the leaders of the Slavers and uses his intestines as Christmas tree decoration to ferret out information from him. He then ends up killing the other two leaders of the Slavers, Vera, and Tiberiu, equally gruesomely.

3. Destroying The Hulk

In the Soldier Supreme part of the comic run Secret Wars: Battleworld #1, Doctor Strange possesses The Punisher, and the resultant gun-wielding sorcerer supreme ends up killing Spider-Man, the Hulk, and Ghost Rider. However, in the case of the Hulk, he simply turns the incredible giant back to Bruce Banner and then, with a snap of his fingers, turns him to dust.

2. Killing All The Marvel Superheroes And Villains

In the 1995 one-shot comic book titled, The Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe, the former U.S. marine wages war against all Marvel superheroes after their fight with the Skrulls leads to the death of his wife and children. The Punisher starts taking his revenge on persons with superhuman abilities beginning with destroying Cyclops, followed by a bunch of other superheroes and villains. The Punisher calls all the remaining superheroes and villains into one place and nukes them all in one go. He finishes up by stabbing Daredevil and finally shooting himself in the head.

1. Killing The Last Humans: End Of Humanity

In the comic, The Punisher: The End, the third world war ends up wiping out all the people on the planet, but Frank Castle somehow survives. However, old man Frank has been put in the high-security prison, Sing-Sing, after having fought crime his way for a long time, where he ends up killing a truckload of inmates. Frank then manages to escape with another criminal, Paris Peters, and hunts down the evil group ‘The Coven’, the people responsible for the world's state. Having seen the worst of humanity, Frank kills the last of the survivors in the post-apocalyptic world, Paris included. Toward the end, Frank is presumably dead from radiation poisoning. The Punisher thus takes his ultimate revenge by killing everyone, including himself.
