5 Interesting Facts About Aayla Secura
Aayla Secura is one of the many Jedi Knights that benefit from supplemental materials outside of the films. The movies treat us to very brief moments of her fighting valiantly on Geonosis, serving during the events of the Clone Wars on Felucia, and then her unfortunate demise at the hands of her clone squadron. There are many, many Jedi that have grown in popularity thanks to either comic books, video games, or animated television series. Names like Quinlan Vos and Plo Koon notably benefited from these a great deal.
The Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi opened the door to many more surviving Jedi stories, and Tale of the Jedi continues the trend of Jedi stories in the current canon. I hope that Aayla Secura, who has many awesome adventures in Legends, gets a story or two in the future that can join those new canonical tales. In celebration of Jedi who did not get their shine in live-action materials, we are going to look back at the Jedi Master. Here are 5 interesting facts about Aayla Secura!

5. She Was A Twi’lek
Twi’leks are some of the most instantly recognizable aliens in the Star Wars universe. Their skin color ranges from blue and green to orange and yellow. In Legends, we have seen their skin even be red, purple, pink, and grey. This species has “lekku” or head-tail appendages that descend from the head. They are also notably “beautiful” and often are sought after by slave traders.
4. She Taught Ahsoka Tano An Important Lesson
In an episode of The Clone Wars animated series titled “Jedi Crash,” we see Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, and Aayla Secura stuck on an alien planet together. Anakin was injured and was in need of medical attention. Ahsoka struggled with the idea of leaving him alone in the pursuit of aid. Aayla conveyed to her that she also had a similar connection with her mentor, and that was important to learn how to let go.
3. She Was A Renowned Leader
Luke Skywalker noted that Aayla Secura was “renowned for her leadership abilities, as well as her strength, compassion, and fearlessness” in the book Star Wars: The Secrets of the Jedi by Marc Sumerak. Although Secura was not a member of the Jedi High Council, she was well respected for her brave service over the course of the Clone Wars.
2. She Had A Romantic Relationship With Kit Fisto
This has been touched on in several comics that are now Legends. The concept of relationships in Star Wars canon is vague at best. Aayla and Kit’s relationship, however brief, was always portrayed as pure and passionate. I rooted for them when they kissed underwater in my comics when I was a kid, and I still love the pairing today.
1. She Was A Victim Of Order 66
Luke Skywalker also wrote about her demise in The Secrets of the Jedi:
“Secura was unable to avoid execution at the hands of her own clone troopers when Order 66 was enacted. However, her death was one of many that echoed across the galaxy.”
The moment her clone troopers opened fire on her could be seen in Revenge of the Sith.
