5 Things Most Fans Don't Know About Reva

It's been about 2 months since the final episode of Obi-Wan season 1 was released and fans are still unpacking the series. One of the characters introduced was Reva, the inquisitor otherwise known as Third Sister played by Moses Ingram. We’re first introduced to her as an aggressive, ambitious, and trigger-happy Jedi hunter obsessed with finding Obi-Wan, but through the course of the series, we’re shown a greater picture of her character.

Through flashbacks and conversations with Obi-Wan, it is revealed that she was one of the Jedi younglings that were murdered in the temple by the newly renamed Darth Vader and that her end goal is to take revenge on Vader by any means necessary. She fails to defeat him when her opportunity arises before then hunting down a 10-year-old Luke but ultimately seems to let go of her revenge mission. What else do we know about Reva?

The Character Reva Was Written For The Scrapped Obi-Wan Movie

Reva was originally created for the canceled movie which was supposed to revolve around Obi-Wan. Screenwriter Stuart Beattie created the character to have someone that Obi-Wan could interact with and help bring some kind of closure to their story since that wasn’t a possibility with Vader. He also wanted to create a new character to avoid having to adhere to any previous canon. She also was originally planned to be the only Inquisitor of the story before the movie ultimately evolved into a series.

Reva Was Originally Supposed To Die

In the original movie script, Reva was still left for dead in the Jedi temple, but she does not know Darth Vader’s true identity. This version of the character also bought into the lies about the Jedi and believed that they were stopped by the clone troopers before they could take over the Republic. This led to her joining the Inquisitors and trying to hunt down the rest of the Jedi. In the end, Obi-Wan would then reveal that Vader was really Anakin triggering Reva to realize that she had been wrong and would let Obi-Wan escape. She would then go on to sacrifice her life by telling Vader she had killed Obi-Wan which she knew would make him kill her in anger, but would also get him to let go of his obsession.

Reva Is More Athletic Than Most Force Wielders

There are many scenes in Obi-Wan that display her athleticism such as when she is free running along rooftops on Daiyu. In an interview, Moses Ingram described Reva as “a full-on athlete”. She also revealed that the role required more athleticism than anything she had done previously. Even before filming, she had to undergo 4 months of training which paid off in many of the sequences where Reva is given a chance to show off that athleticism. We’re hoping that, if she gets the chance to reprise her character, we will get to see them dig a bit deeper into this advantage.

Reva May Have Influenced The Events Of A New Hope

Most Star Wars fans will no doubt remember when the protagonists escaped the clutches of the Empire only for Vader to reveal that he had placed a homing beacon onboard the Millennium Falcon. In episode 4 of Obi-Wan however, we learn that this idea may not have been entirely his own. At the end of the episode it is revealed that, while they were able to stage a successful and daring escape, they were actually going to be leading the Empire right to the home base of the resistance organization The Hidden Path. This was thanks to a homing beacon that was placed in Leia’s droid Lola. This also explains why Leia is so wary of them getting away in A New Hope since she has seen this situation before.

She Shares Many Similarities With A Fallen Order Character

Anyone who has played the Fallen Order video game will remember Trilla Suduri, otherwise known as Second Sister. She was trained as a Jedi before falling to the power of the dark side. She was ambitious, and ruthless, and used her intellect to stay a few steps ahead of her enemies. Sound familiar? While it could be easy to see how someone could think that Reva was just a tweaked version of Trilla, Reva was actually created first. Still, there are definitely some connections so it will be interesting to see if we get a live-action version of Trilla and if she and Reva would interact at all.

When we last see Reva, she can choose her path for the first time in her life. We will just have to wait to see where she will pop up next.
