5. Droid Autonomy

The Vanguard Axis Station is a completely autonomous station managed by droids. No sentient species is present. Normally, in the Star Wars universe, droids are treated as property or pets. According to Legends (also known as the Expanded Universe), droids were treated so poorly when a droid designated HK-01 led other droids against organic races in the Great  Droid Revolution. HK-01 would have his droid armies subjugate entire planets. Although the droids are not doing this in The Bad Batch, they have no qualms about selling Gungi into slavery.

4. Gungi

As previously hinted in The Bad Batch Season 2 trailer and promotional materials, fan-favorite Gungi has survived Order 66 and the Clone Wars. However, he has not revealed how exactly he managed to escape the Jedi Purge. His distrust of clones is evident even as Tech and Hunter try to communicate with him.

The young Wookiee was last seen in The Clone Wars at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant when it was bombed by Barriss Offee. It is unclear if he will appear in future episodes of The Bad Batch or other Star Wars media.

3. Wookiee Pelts

In The Bad Batch, Commander Venomor is the new Trandoshan mercenary hunting down the Wookiee population on Kashyyyk for the Empire. The Transdoshan can be seen donning a shoulder pad made of Wookiee pelt. This exemplifies the blood feud between the Trandoshans and the Wookiees.

The conflict between the two species is also seen in The Book of Boba Fett when Black Krrsantan chokes out a Trandoshan in Garsa’s Sanctuary.

2. Canceled Star Wars: The Clone Wars Arc

In a storyline cut from The Clone Wars animated series, the Bad Batch was supposed to team up with Master Yoda to assist with the droid attack on the Wookiees on Kashyyyk. In The Bad Batch episode, Wrecker mentioned that it has been a while since they have been to Kashyyyk, which means that the mission did indeed happen even though the audience did not see it on screen.

The previously cut Kashyyyk arc of The Clone Wars meant to use the Wookiees’ giant mounts known as the Mylaya. The cat-like creatures would be repurposed in The Bad Batch episode.

1. Kinrath

Found living on various planets such as Dantooine and Kashyyyk, Kinrath is a spider-like insectoid that spins webs much like actual spiders but are over five feet tall. Its appearance on Kashyyyk in this episode of The Bad Batch is notable as this is the first time the kinrath is featured in mainstream Star Wars content. It was previously seen in the videogame Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords. Like in the game, the kinrath inhabited the Shadowlands of Kashyyyk.

Of note, the kinrath was not present when players visit Kashyyyk in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
