WARNING: SPOILERS FOR TALES OF THE JEDI

Tales of the Jedi is the newest animated Star Wars show on Disney+. All six episodes of the mini-series dropped this past Wednesday. It takes place during the prequel era, and tells the stories of Count Dooku, before his fall to the dark side, and the early days of Ahsoka Tano. The show has many greats, so here is a list of the best moments from the mini-series.

Baby Ahsoka Riding The Sabertooth Tiger

In the first episode, we are introduced to Baby Ahsoka and her family. Her mother straps her into a baby carrier and goes out into the woods to hunt for food for the village. She successfully takes down an animal, and Ahsoka turns her head away. Her mother tells her “to look at death” in order to face the reality of death. While in the woods, a sabertooth tiger comes and attacks them, and Baby Ahsoka gets taken away by the creature. After Ahsoka is taken, she starts to bond with the creature through the Force. She is then able to ride the creature back to the village, unharmed.

Yaddle’s Dramatic Moment

Yaddle's last moment in her fight against Dooku

The fight between Yaddle and Dooku is a good one, even if it ends tragically. We were able to see how Dooku is corrupted by Palpatine but still has some remorse for the things he had done. Yaddle follows Dooku to his meeting with Palpatine and makes herself known. Dooku is instructed to kill Yaddle, and a duel ensues between the two Jedi. Dooku “crushes” Yaddle under the heavy door. However, she uses the Force one last time to open it, before falling down on the floor. She is then struck down by Dooku’s lightsaber. It is a great last moment for the Jedi Master, accompanied by Kiner’s fantastic variation on “The Force Theme.”

Ahsoka's Training Session

Anakin is not happy with the easy training session Ahsoka is getting, so he challenges her to something harder. He recruits Rex and his men to help. Ahsoka keeps getting blasted and knocked down, and Anakin keeps pushing her to keep going. He knows what it is like out in the battlefield and that it will not be easy for her. This shows how he cares deeply about his Padawan. It is difficult, but pays off in the end, because the episode fast-forwards to Rex and Ahsoka facing the entire clone army that has turned on them.

Padme's Funeral

As brief as it is, it is beautiful. The number of people that come out for her funeral show how many hearts she has touched during her time as queen and senator. Ahsoka having to hide at the funeral is especially sad. In E. K. Johnston’s Ahsoka, Bail Organa does not even know Ahsoka is alive until the last third of the book. In this episode, however, they meet very early on, and she would utilize the help he offers her later.

Ahsoka's Fight With The Inquisitor

A villager reports Ahsoka to the Empire after finding out that she is a Jedi. An Inquisitor arrives, and he and Ahsoka fight briefly. Even though she has no lightsabers, Ahsoka is able to use her skills to get disarm and kill him. At the end of the episode, she decides that she is ready to continue the fight with Bail Organa. On the other hand, the fight depicted in Ahsoka is much longer, and also explains how she gets her white lightsabers.

Tales of the Jedi tell stories we were familiar with and filled some gaps in the Prequel era. It is nice to see the origins of Ahsoka, and the early days of Dooku before he turns to the dark side. I hope we do get a Season 2, and that it explores the stories of other Jedi as well.
