WARNING: SPOILERS FOR TALES OF THE JEDI

The new Star Wars animated series has been released on Disney+ this past Wednesday. Tales of the Jedi tells the stories of Count Dooku's fall and Ahsoka Tano's rise in six masterful shorts. Here are five Easter eggs and references from the anthology.

5. Tales Of The Young Jedi

Tales of the Jedi episode “Life and Death” shows the birth of Ahsoka Tano among the Togruta people on her homeworld of Shili. Then, the story moves to Ahsoka’s mother, Pav-ti, taking her on her first hunt about a year later. It is worth noting that Ahsoka resembles her mother. At such a young age, Ahsoka is already demonstrating her connection to nature and the Force.

Star Wars Celebration 2022 previously announced that Liam Neeson will reprise his role as Qui-Gon Jinn in the Tales of the Jedi. The second episode “Justice” depicts a much younger Qui-Gon Jinn, voiced by none other than Neeson’s son, Micheál Richardson. Young Qui-Gon is seen donning the iconic Jedi robe and wielding the same lightsaber seen in The Phantom Menace. He also lacks a beard, and his hair is shorter than in previous appearances. However, the young Jedi is already demonstrating wisdom beyond his years, to the astonishment of Dooku.

In “Practice Makes Perfect,” a young Caleb Dume is briefly seen watching Padawan Ahsoka Tano testing her lightsaber skills against the training remotes.

4. Raxus

In “Choices,” Master Dooku and Master Windu are dispatched to Raxus Secundus to retrieve the body of Jedi Master Katri, only to find a corrupt senator. This episode foreshadows how the entire galaxy will come to view the Jedi as spineless lapdogs that serve the Senate.

Raxus is a former Republic world located in the Outer Rim that would later become the capital of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. This is also where the Separatist senators would convene with Count Dooku. In The Clone Wars episode ‘‘Heroes on Both Sides,” Padme Amidala and Ahsoka Tano visit Senator Mina Bonteri on Raxus with the hopes of ending the Clone Wars while teaching Ahsoka a little bit about politics. Later, Asajj Ventress and Jedi Master Quinlan Voss would team up on Raxus to assassinate Count Dooku. The failed attempt would result in Ventress’s death. Lastly, in The Bad Batch episode “Common Ground,” the Clone Force 99 visits Raxus to rescue Senator Avi Singh.

3. Dooku Deletes Kamino’s Data

In Attack of the Clones, Obi-Wan discovers that Kamino’s archive data has been deleted. In “The Sith Lord,” Count Dooku is seen deleting Kamino’s archive data using Master Sifo-Dyas’s code.

Count Dooku makes his first dastardly appearance in Attack of the Clones as the leader of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. He is a part of the Lost Twenty, a group of Jedi Masters that have become disillusioned and chosen to leave the Jedi Order. Busts of the Lost Twenty can be seen in the Jedi Archives in Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, and The Clone Wars.

2. Ahsoka’s First Encounter With An Inquisitor

Ahsoka is now in hiding from the Empire, living a normal mundane life. As Ashla, Ahsoka assists the farmers in the fields. In “Resolve,” she saves an innocent farmer by using the Force to move debris that would have certainly crushed the poor farmer. Not long after, a masked Inquisitor arrives to investigate the rumor of a Jedi. The unarmed Ahsoka confronts the Inquisitor, quickly disarming and then killing her opponent.

In the Star Wars: Rebels episode “The Future of the Force,” Ahsoka disarms the Seventh Sister in the same way.

1. Return Of Master Yaddle

For the first time since The Phantom Menace, Jedi Master Yaddle returns to the big screen. In “The Sith Lord,Master Yaddle shows concern for Dooku upon Qui-Gon’s death. After Dooku leaves for the industrial sector of Coruscant, Yaddle follows Dooku from afar. When she sees Dooku meeting with Darth Sidious, she gives him one last chance at redemption.

This confrontation between Yaddle and Dooku deviates from Legends. In that account, Yaddle, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker were on a mission to Mawan to restore peace. She would suffer fatal wounds when she uses the Force to absorb a deadly chemical weapon in order to save the people of Mawan.
