'Venom: The Last Dance' Spoiler-Free Review

Venom: The Last Dance is just that, a last dance between Eddie Brock and his symbiote counterpart, Venom. Don’t worry; there is actual dancing at one point. It’s the final film in the trilogy, and the two have been through a lot together. It’s also most likely the last time we'll see this lovely duo.
The movie starts as a very fun road trip buddy comedy but then evolves into a military vs aliens style movie. The change is drastic but makes sense for the type of movie. Eddie and Venom are fugitives on the run, but that's not their only issue.
Knull, a God that the symbiotes locked up needs Eddie and Venom because together, they are a codex that will free him. If he gets freed, let's just say the universe will be destroyed. Eddie and Venom aren't alone and have a whole symbiote army at their back to fight these alien trackers. Each of these symbiotes is unique and great to see in action. Of course, the codex breaks if one or both of them die. I won’t spoil who, or if anyone does die, but I will say that the two of them deserved to live happily ever after. They were such a wonderful duo, and there was even a lovely montage of their friendship at the end of the film. The ending is bittersweet but a great way for someone to get a very deserved new beginning.

Tom Hardy was a phenomenal choice to play Eddie Brock. He and Venom were the ultimate power couple, even though they were only together for a year. The other characters, mainly Dr. Payne (Juno Temple) and Rex Strickland (Chiwetel Ejiofor), were interesting but weren’t fleshed out enough to have you care about them. I will say that Juno Temple’s character got one of the movie's coolest symbiotes. The hippie family Eddie meets is a lovely addition to the film. They just wanted to see some aliens and got more than they bargained for. They were willing to help Eddie and accepted him as one of their own for the time being. It also showed us a nice talk between Eddie and Venom. The action was exciting and very well done. The various symbiotes fighting the aliens were some of the coolest scenes, as they all have different skill sets. The Venom-horse was as cool as it looked in the trailer. Kelly Marcel did a great job directing the film, and it had some pretty cool shots. It's great to see a female director direct a film like Venom.
Tom Hardy has said he is done with the role, but that doesn't mean the Venom universe can't go on. The first post-credits scene teases that a bigger threat is coming and that the world better be prepared. Who knows how they'll continue this universe, but it will be empty without the Venom and Eddie duo.

Don't get me wrong—the Venom movies aren't masterpieces by any means, but they are fun and campy, and sometimes that's what we need. Not every movie needs to be an Oscar nominee. It's okay to have fun at the movies, and this film delivers. It's heartfelt, funny, and the perfect send-off to this lovely duo.
