A Ranking Of The 'Baldurs Gate 3' Companions
Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the most popular video game RPGs in recent years. It won a bunch of awards and sold a ton of copies. Even a year later, the game is still going strong. Like other RPGS, your character has companions that follow you on your journey and help you in battle. There are the main companions and others you can get as the game goes on. In this article, I will be focusing on the main ones but will include Halsin as well. The BG3 fandom is very intense regarding their favorites, so I think it’s time to share with the fandom my rankings of the companions.
7. Gale
I feel like people are very divided on Gale, but I am clearly not. He is my favorite of my companions and was the obvious romance choice for my character. He is a powerful wizard and someone I always have in my party. He is a huge book nerd and has some great spells that really come in handy. You never know when you might need to use fireball in a room full of enemies.

6. Karlach
Karlach is one of the coolest companions in the game but is missable if you don’t know where to find her. She’s a tiefling with a complicated backstory. If you decide to help her out, she becomes even more powerful and ends up being more of a tank than she already is.
5. Wyll
Never make a deal with a devil, which is a lesson Wyll learned the hard way. He made a pact with his demon patron, and he is now paying the price after being turned into a demon himself. His warlock capabilities make him a strong fighter. His backstory is one of the more interesting ones, but it’s a shame his story and character weren’t more fleshed out.
4. Halsin
Halsin is another companion that is missable if you accidentally kill him during the mission you meet him or if you decide you don’t need him. You don’t get him as a companion until much later in the game, so he may not be used as much as the others, but as the only druid, he does come in handy.
3. Lae’zel
Lae’zel is one of the first characters you meet in the game. She is stuck on the same nautiloid ship you are. However, once the ship crashes, you two are separated. She can be found later in a hanging cage, where you must either fight or talk your way through the people keeping her captive. Once you rescue her, she joins your party and is a very capable fighter. She is one of the most interesting characters in the game.
2. Shadowheart
Shadowheart is another character you meet on the Nautiloid ship. She is missable on the ship, however, and if you don’t rescue her on your journey off the ship, you will be able to meet her later on. She is one of the characters I have at my party all the time, and with her having the blood of Lathandar, she is pretty much unstoppable.
1. Astarion
This one may be more controversial, as Astarion is a favorite to so many. Now, I don’t hate him; he’s a very interesting character, just not my fave. I barely use him, but he does come in handy when I do. His story is very interesting, but he is just not one of my favorites in the game.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a wonderful D&D-inspired videogame RPG. The game is long and full of a ton of content. The story and characters are some of the best, too. It’s worth it to do all the companion quests, as it gives you more insight into both the world and the characters that travel with you. You also owe it to them, considering they’re risking their lives to fight with you.
