According To Rotten Tomatoes, 'Andor' Is Only Getting Better
Andor is keen to distinguish itself. The Disney+ series that serves as a precursor to the events of Rogue One (2016) has the highest episode count per season of any Star Wars show to date, coming in at twelve episodes for season one. By comparison, each season of the Mandalorian has contained eight episodes, The Book of Boba Fett told its first season arc in seven episodes, and the Kenobi limited series was a mere six.
More remarkable than this, Andor is now fully halfway through its first twelve episodes and trending in a highly positive direction. The show’s Rotten Tomatoes scores for the first half of this season have continued to climb, and the latest two episodes are presently certified 100% fresh!

The consensus for these episodes on the review aggregation site calls Andor a “bold departure” with “galactic scale”, and “refreshingly grounded.” Tony Gilroy has capitalised on the strengths of his previous work in Rogue One by continuing to lean into the sense of life at ground level in the Star Wars universe. The protagonists in both cases are not fantasy archetypes on a destined path to a hero’s journey. Rather, they are complex, sometimes morally ambiguous, creatures compelled by their own pain and sense of justice to meddle in machinations that would, in less dire circumstances, be too great for them to consider.
Because the show doesn’t center on any force-sensitive individuals or rely heavily on elements either mystical or mythical, it stands apart from the pure escapism of classic Star Wars. The grand adventure of the Skywalker Saga has given fans worlds they long to live in. This latest addition to lore asks those same fans to consider what cause would be worth dying for.
