This Is Why Darth Vader Disliked Stormtroopers

We know that Anakin Skywalker/ Darth Vader hated Obi-Wan and, umm…sand but did you know that there was an entire stormtrooper unit that earned his ire? In a highly informative video on Youtube by Geetsly’s, we learn exactly who these stormtroopers were and what they did to cross Vader so mightily.

The video provides a deep dive into the workings of the elite stormtrooper units within the Imperial Military called the Storm Commandos, also known as the Imperial Commandos or Shadow Scouts, that formed a part of the Special forces of the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps. They had been created especially to combat the guerilla tactics of the growing rebellion. The best among the troopers got trained to become storm commandos. The video describes in detail how they were skilled at performing a plethora of specialized tasks such as sabotage, siege breaking, and extraction. Their black armor was coated with an advanced armor called reflec, which made them immune to scans.

Now, one would think that such an elite group of experts might have earned the respect of Darth Vader. This video elucidates in delightful detail some of the events described in the comic mini-series Star Wars: Darth Vader and the Lost Command by author W. Haden Blackman. The comic run encapsulates the time when Vader is haunted by the ghost of Padmé and is assigned on a mission to find a unit led by Moff Tarkin’s son. The video shows how the storm commandos betrayed Vader under the command of Captain Shale during the insurgency at Atoa. They mutinied against Vader’s 501st legion and attempted to assassinate Lord Vader himself. Of course, that was a mistake, and they couldn’t kill Vader, who was extremely powerful in the dark side of the Force by now and destroyed all storm commandos who had mutinied. However, this made Vader wary of stormtroopers forever.
