The Raimi Spider-Man Trilogy - Caravan Of Garbage

Caravan of Garbage returns again discussing memorable moments from the Raimi Spider-Man Trilogy, also known as the Tobey McGuire Spider-Man trilogy, which would go on to pave the way for future superhero movies. With the 2021 Spiderman promising reunion of Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland, we take a look back to the original Spiderman movies that set the bar for all superhero movies that follow.

While they lightheartedly poke fun at the movies, Caravan of Garbage also remind us how amazing the movies were. It was "one of the purest translation of comic book to movie." The CGI, in its infancy at that time, looks very dated and does not stand well today in 2021. On the other hand, it contributes to the exaggerated over-the-top caricature-like cartoon style that harkens back to its origin in the comics.

We remember back to the great moments in the trilogy: Uncle Ben's "with great power comes great responsibility" scene that immortalize the quote, Peter Parker catching Mary Jane's tray of food in the cafeteria (no CGI here, just 156 takes until they get it right), "You mess with Spidey, you mess with New York" scene which shows support for New York unity post 9/11 (the first Spiderman movie did come out mere months after 9/11), Spiderman stopping the train sequence, and even emo Peter Parker.

Many actors got their start in the trilogy before they become more well known: Joe Manganiello (True Blood), J. K. Simmons (already known for his role on Law and Order), Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games, Pitch Perfect), Octavia Spencer (The Help, Hidden Figures), Daniel Dae Kim (Lost, Hawaii-Five-0), Joey Diaz (The Joe Rogan Experience), Emily Deschanel (Bones), and Joel McHale (Community).

This video clip will make you want to rewatch the Raimi Spiderman trilogy again.
