I’ll be the first to admit that when it comes to me being a Star Wars fan, I am easily pleased. If I enjoy something, I’ll talk about how great it is forever. Skeleton Crew is no different. This week's episode, “No Friends Again”, was another incredible episode directed by the wonderful Bryce Dallas Howard, who deserves her own Star Wars movie at this point. She never fails to disappoint when she directs. This episode has been one of the most emotional so far.

After Wim hits a button to leave the treasure vault, they are launched into the outdoors, near some garbage. Fern, technically their Captain, once again takes the lead and suggests they climb up to the ship. Wim, however, has discovered some trash crabs and wants to follow them. The party then splits up, with Wim and KB following the trash crabs and Neel and Fern climbing. KB and Wim have a heartfelt moment together, where she gets really about her insecurities when it comes to her disability. Fern and Neel are having a hard time climbing, as Neel has much smaller legs than Fern. He tells her this when she yells at him to stop stopping so much. She sees a rope and has an idea to use it to help Neel. Eventually, they are attached and see their ship being towed away. They jump on and are able to save KB and Wim after their encounter with the trash crabs is less than ideal. Oh, and Jod gets captured and is not having a good time. The ending of the episode is something I won’t spoil, as it’s a great moment and is such a good ending to the episode.

Wim and KB have a heart-to-heart conversation where KB comes clean about how she feels. Wim helps her recharge herself after her systems get a bit fried. She admits that she is scared to tell Fern that she is not the same she once was after her disability and thinks that if she tells Fern, then she won’t have friends again. Wim, of course, doesn’t care that she isn’t the same and tells her that she can be friends with him and Neel. I shed a tear or two during this moment. It was such a great moment about disability and was such a great moment between these two characters.

It’s been great seeing the world of Star Wars from the perspective of children. It also shows how much is being hidden from them on At Attin. They see some X-wings chasing down pirates, and Fern mentions how she thinks those are X-wings, and according to Jod, they’re the bad guys. We all know that isn’t true, but interestingly, the kids wouldn’t be familiar with such an important ship in their universe. Even though they all came together under their circumstances, they have essentially become a family. They each are able to become more vulnerable with each other and accept each other for their differences. It’s so cute to see children come together in a terrible situation. The hug they shared at the end was one of the best moments of the episode.

Skeleton Crew has been such a wonderful addition to the Star Wars universe. There are only two episodes left, and I can’t wait to see how the show wraps up and if these children ever get home.

Rating: 8/10
