Nick Fury

Secret Invasion episode 4 was an exciting ride from start to finish. It’s been one of the best episodes of the series so far but also one of the shortest. It was extremely action-packed but also had a lot of shocking moments.

**Beware of spoilers for Secret Invasion episode 4 below**

The episode once again starts with a Nick Fury flashback. This time, however, it takes place in the year 2012, right after the big Avengers fight in New York. Fury meets his now wife at a bar, and she talks about the Avengers fight and that she knows of only one person who could’ve brought all of those people together. The end of last week's episode had a shocking ending, with Gi’ah being shot. However, this week's episode revealed that she is indeed alive, but also a Super Skrull, thanks to the Extremis serum she took. She and Talos meet to talk about the plan Talos has in place for finding them a new planet. Personally, it sounded like a decent plan to me. However, for Gi’ah, she was not on board with it. It was also revealed that Fury’s wife was on the phone with Rhodey at the end of the previous episode. They meet up in person, and he wants her to kill him. Later, a popular fan theory is confirmed about Rhodey, as he is indeed a Skrull. There is a massive shootout at the end of the episode involving Gravik, Fury, and the President. Fury and Talos show up and save the President, but unfortunately, it is too late for Talos, and Gravik ends up killing him.

This episode felt a lot more Fury-centric than the previous ones. We saw more of his relationship with his wife and the argument they had after he listened in on her conversion with Rhodey. During that conversation, she revealed that Fury hadn’t been the same since he got back from the Blip. That is apparent throughout the series. Even though Fury has been through a lot during his time in Moscow, he’s not the agent he once was.

Talos and Fury have one of the best friendships in the MCU. While it’s somewhat unconventional, they care for each other, and Fury really does want to help them. Talos was a great character from the first time we met him. All he ever wanted was a new home for his people, and hopefully, they can get that. Fury has also, unfortunately, lost two friends in a short amount of time. First was Maria Hill in episode one, and now Talos. The man has been through enough, but it's not over, as he still has to somehow defeat Gravik.

It has been said that there are only two episodes left of this series, yet there is still a lot to wrap up. The biggest issue is that of Gravik. Fury is now down one of his biggest allies, or so we think at least, which puts him at a huge disadvantage against Gravik. Gravik has also been diving into the serum, as we saw him exhibit some familiar Groot powers and reform his face due to Extremis after he was shot. Nick Fury is going to have a hard time stopping him. While Talos is probably dead, there is the possibility of him somehow coming back, maybe through the use of the serum the Skrulls have been developing. There are not a lot of people left that Fury can trust, as you don’t know who is a Skrull and who isn’t.

Secret Invasion has been a blast so far. It feels different from the other Marvel shows. The shocking twists and action have made it quite entertaining. The return of Nick Fury has also been one of the best parts of the show as well.  It’s going to be interesting to see how everything gets wrapped up and how it ends for Nick Fury.
