Writers Strike Disruptions Suspend Production Of 'Daredevil: Born Again'
The Writers Guild of America’s (WGA) strike halts another project as Marvel Studios announces Daredevil: Born Again is suspended after picketers protested as filming occurred this week in New York. The picket started on Monday morning, with members of Local 817 and IATSE Locals 829 and 52 refusing to cross the picket line, which caused filming to cease for the afternoon. Filming resumed the following day; however, the picketers returned, halting production. WGA Strike Captain Warren Leight tweeted on Wednesday how the picket group was “spirited” and “last minute.”
Since the WGA went on strike, other productions throughout the entertainment industry stopped producing content for broadcast, such as all late-night programming, Billions, American Horror Story, and Marvel Studios’ Blade. Daredevil: Born Again is written by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, executive producers of the series. Neither men are on set due to the strike.

The new series focuses on Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil, who is an attorney by day and a superhero by night. Cox’s first portrayal of the character was during Marvel Studios’ partnership with Netflix, which cast Vince D’Onofrio as the infamous crime boss Wilson Fisk aka the Kingpin. During the series’ tenure on Netflix, the show found instant success with fans who wanted Cox’s iteration of the character brought into the proper Marvel Cinematic Universe’s canon of events.
Other cast members for Daredevil: Born Again are Margarita Levieva, Sandrine Holt, and Michael Gandolfini, along with Jon Bernthal, who is reprising his role of the Punisher.
