Dungeons & Dragons is seeing unprecedented popularity these days. The success of shows like Critical Role and The Legend of Vox Machina on Amazon Prime, coupled with high-profile celebrities playing the game, and top talent cast in the new movie Honor Among Thieves have certainly helped to boost the visibility of the nearly 50 year old game. Then with a pandemic to keep people home, more people joined in on the game.

As a result, online tools and resources, which had been around before the pandemic, have received more attention. Now, Wizards of the Coast, the parent company for Dungeons & Dragons, has released information about their upcoming update to the game: One D&D.

According to Wizards of the Coast, One D&D is their term for the initiative for the future plans for the franchise. This includes fan feedback regarding updated rules, their acquisition and dedication to updating the online platform for players D&D Beyond, and their new online tabletop platform launching in 2024 where players can play online in a simulated environment. This would be similar in intention to sites like roll20.net, or Tabletop Simulator on Steam.

The initiative is currently in play testing, and you can take part in this using the D&D Beyond link in the sources. After player feedback, which lasts through the end of 2023, new books are slated for release in 2024.
