The schedule for San Diego Comic-Con appears to be moving on, even without some of the major names that people were looking forward to. With Marvel, DC, and Warner Bros. out, entries like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Twisted Metal, Archer, Bob’s Burgers, John Wick, and many more are still involved, giving fans plenty to do during the con.

With the writer’s strike still going on and an actor’s strike looming, Hollywood is struggling to create films. This is the first time since 2011 that neither Marvel nor DC will be there, which will likely upset comic book fans. Despite this, Marvel actor Anthony Mackie will be appearing, but not for his role of Falcon/Captain America, as he will be appearing for his role in Twisted Metal.

However, this might be a return to the con’s roots, as it has only been in the past decade or so that large A-list stars have appeared. Since the con started up in the 70s, it was seen more as a way for more niche communities to get together and take off. An estimated 160,000 people attend each year, and the absence of large stars is not expected to have a large impact on the number of people who will attend this year.

The Con starts on Thursday, July 20th, and will run until Saturday, the 22nd.
