Who Is In Line To Purchase The WWE After JPMorgan Steps In To Help Facilitate Sale?
The legendary Vince McMahon has come out of his recent retirement, but not for the reasons many fans may think.
McMahon returned to the WWE board of directors this week to help them facilitate a sale of the wrestling company. WWE has hired JPMorgan to advise the company on its short-term future moves. Reports suggest the WWE sale will need to occur within the next three to six months, giving new ownership their best footing possible as they discuss future media and broadcast rights, which likely will affect the WWE’s future in the streaming industry.

McMahon stepped down from his role last year after sexual misconduct allegations were made against him. Several suitors could be in line to buy the WWE’s broadcast rights. Comcast, who owns NBCUniversal, has deals with McMahon through Peacock and its cable TV affiliate Universal.
Disney could be in play, as well. Bringing wrestling to Hulu Live or ESPN Plus could bolster Disney’s streaming ventures significantly. Interestingly enough, Disney has already featured some well-known figures with ties to wrestling, including Gina Carano and Sasha Banks, who have been vocal about her seemingly short-lived tenure on The Mandalorian. Fox, who currently has a deal for Friday Night Smackdown, could also be a suitor to buy WWE’s media rights.
Disney properties aren’t the only ones to feature former wrestlers. DC’s Peacemaker, which stars John Cena, maybe the best DC TV show to date.
