Warner Bros. Has Shelved A Live-Action 'Batman Beyond' Starring Michael Keaton
Michael Keaton’s Batman Beyond movie was reportedly canceled after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over Warner Bros Discovery’s DC Division as co-CEOs.
The information was revealed in the last episode of The Hot Mic podcast in which host Jeff Sneider reported that a Batman movie with Michael Keaton, set to play an older version of Bruce Wayne, was canceled.

This was followed by a tweet from The Wrap film reporter Umberto Gonzalez who affirmed that this movie was being penned by Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey, The Flash) and was set to be a live-action take on Batman Beyond.
It’s not news that Michael Keaton, who has already played Batman in Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992), would join the newest iterations of Batman in the DCEU, namely Ben Affleck’s and Robert Pattinson’s. The actor was set to make an appearance in Batgirl which was unexpectedly canceled a few months ago and is still set to appear in the upcoming The Flash movie which is now set to hit theaters on June 26, 2023.
With James Gunn and Peter Safran at the wheel of the DC-mobile, we can only wonder what other project was kept under wraps and was canceled, or what upcoming project will remain intact. Especially after Wonder Woman 3’s cancelation. Nonetheless, this worrying transition is estimated necessary by the new duo as being part of their plan to build the next ten years of the DCEU’s story.
