Warner Bros. Announces That DC May Have Found Their Own Kevin Feige In Producer Dan Lin
Though some of the movies were enjoyed by fans and critics alike and had big box office success, the DCEU mostly has endured a tumultuous ride to this point. Even recent news like Ezra Miller’s escapades or the delay of Aquaman 2 continues to put the DCEU in a state of disarray.
Warner Bros. is hoping to put an end to that soon, and they may have found just the man for the job.
Multiple reports from sources such as Hollywood Reporter and Variety claim that Warner Bros. is seeking someone to take over the film and television divisions. One person who has emerged as a potential frontrunner for the Kevin Fiege-like position is Dan Lin, who has a strong pedigree. He already has worked on multiple Lego movies for Warner Bros., and he has worked on projects such as the Sherlock Holmes films (starring Robert Downey Jr.) and the It movie adaptations of Stephen King’s work.
Lin’s experience in television may give him an edge. He was an executive producer for the Lethal Weapon show that aired for three seasons, as well as the reboot of Walker: Texas Ranger.
Reports indicate that no offer has been made to Lin, but he appears to be on the shortlist of top candidates.
Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav has not been shy in admitting he wants to bring in someone who can mimic the structure and capture the same successes of their rival studio, Marvel, which has dominated the superhero movie landscape for well over a decade. Films such as Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman showed a promising start for the DCEU, but Warner Bros. has struggled to maintain the same longevity as Marvel’s MCU. Several casting issues have plagued both the films and TV shows, and canceled projects like Batgirl have poked holes in the DCEU’s future as it is now.
Zaslav has reportedly pushed for a reset of the DC brand - whether that means a total reboot of the existing DCEU is not definitively clear - and whoever takes control of DC, whether it be Lin or someone else, likely would lead that development.
