'Star Wars: Tales Of The Jedi' Series Leaked For 'Star Wars' Celebration

Star Wars Tales Of The Jedi

Star Wars and animation go hand in hand in many aspects.

Some of the greatest stories in the Star Wars universe have been told, through animated series like The Clone Wars, Rebels, Resistance, and The Bad Batch. It is just as equal a format to tell great Star Wars stories as the live-action media. What goes even better with Star Wars than animation is an anthology, a collection of one-and-done tales where a complete story is told. It appears that once again Star Wars is heading in that direction in making this anthology of shorts with the new up-and-coming series Tales of the Jedi. This is the first time since Star Wars: Visions that this style of storytelling is used.

Tales of the Jedi is an anthology of Star Wars animated shorts depicting, obviously, the Jedi. It will be overseen by Lucasfilm’s head of animation Dave Filoni. A Star Wars anthology is always a fun idea, and one about the Jedi is even better. The Jedi are some of the greatest heroes the galaxy has ever known. They are the ultimate reason why Star Wars is so popular. Thus fans should have the opportunity to hear about their various feats.

RELATED:

The name Tales of the Jedi has its roots in Star Wars with the original Tales of the Jedi comic written by Tom Veitch. The comic series told the tales of the ancient Jedi of old from thousands of years before the events of the Skywalker saga. It gave us new characters and tell us a story of ancient times. Perhaps, we will see some of these familiar characters like Exar Kun, and Nomi Sunrider once again, this time on screen.

On the other hand, we will most likely be seeing Jedi from all the eras of the Skywalker saga, and maybe even the High Republic era. Perhaps there will be episodes dedicated to established Jedi like Ahsoka, Luke, Anakin, and Rey. There may even be episodes dedicated to book characters like Avar, Elzar, and Vernestra.

An anthology is an excellent framework device for showcasing short stories that may not have the time to develop into a full-on series. These one-and-done stories can go a long in making something interesting. They are not bound or dead set in a long-form story. Anthology can allow one to get really creative.

The Tales of the Jedi panel has been announced for Saturday, May 28 from 2:30 to 3:30 PM at Star Wars Celebration. Dave Filoni himself will be presiding over the event. Hopefully, we will get all sorts of interesting news, and sneak peeks about what the series will actually be about, and what sort of stories will be told. Will we see new Jedi, old Jedi, or perhaps even Jedi of the future? This series will not be the first time Star Wars enters the world of anthology, but perhaps it will be the first serious attempt in a long time.

A whole series of Jedi tales will greatly enhance the galaxy far, far away, by expanding on new stories. Telling them in one-and-done shorts makes for tighter writing and allows for experimental stories as well, much like Star Wars: Visions. Hopefully, this is a great sign of what is to come in the Star Wars universe.
