Vin Diesel Won’t Be Starring In The ‘Avatar’ Franchise, According To Producer Jon Landau
Back in 2019, Vin Diesel set the rumor ablaze by teasing his appearance in James Cameron’s Avatar films. The actor visited the set of Avatar: The Way Of Water and shared an Instagram video with the quote, “There is one person in Hollywood I’ve always wanted to work with and learn from, and so, all things come, I guess, to those that wait.”
Understandably, many fans of the actor mistook this to mean that he was cast in the Avatar sequel. However, instead of denying the rumors, Vin Diesel made a statement that caused even more confusion. The actor claimed in an interview with MTV, “I love James Cameron, and I love the series, and I think it’s safe to say that we will be working together.”
Despite these past comments, the producer Jon Landau confirmed that Vin Diesel is not, at this point, cast in any of the Avatar sequels. However, anything is possible, with three more sequels set to release over the next three years. Vin Diesel may still get a chance to live his dream of working with James Cameron in what’s shaping up to be a very successful movie franchise. In the meantime, the actor has plenty on his plate, with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 releasing on May 5 and the final two Fast & Furious films. Avatar: The Way of Water is playing in theaters now.
