UPDATE: Mondo Will Continue To Make Posters According To Tweet From Funko CEO
After previous news about the downsizing of Mondo, a company Funko acquired last year, the CEO of Funko Brian Mariotti has now released a statement about the downsizing. “Since there is a lot of misinformation about the recent change in leadership and the poster division of Mondo currently out there, I can tell you that our strategy is very clear.”
The overall workforce of Funko had been reduced by 10%, but Mondo wasn’t majorly affected by those company-wide layoffs. The posters will continue production, with their goal to increase the number of each run they release. So, while still limited, there is less incentive for scalpers to buy them up to resell at a major markup of the original price.

Mariotti says that “Funko will be heavily investing in the production of vinyl records in the near future, allowing Mondo to deliver records to more fans.” There are plans to build an almost 70,000-square-foot building that combines a record-pressing factory, record store, and live music event space in San Diego. Taking up 4000 square-foot of the space will be a Mondo art gallery.
Going to great lengths to secure new licences for Mondo to work with, and a 100% commitment to supporting the team, Funko wants to see Mondo continue making “amazing products that reach a larger and more diverse fanbase.”
