'Ultraman: Rising' Gets A Limited Theatrical Run In The US And UK

Fans of the long-running Tokusatsu series will get the chance to see this reimagining of Ultraman on the big screen, as director Shannon Tindle recently announced that Ultraman: Rising will receive a limited theatrical run in the US, Canada and the UK.

In the states, Ultraman: Rising will be in theaters in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Atlanta, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, and Miami. In Canada, it’ll be in theaters in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. In the UK, it will be in London, Oxford, Sheffield and Knutsford.

Ultraman: Rising will make its world premiere at the Annecy International Film Festival on June 12th, followed by a panel with Shannon Tindle, co-director John Aoshima, art director Sunmin Inn, composer Scot Stafford, and VFX supervisor Hayden Jones, where they’ll discuss the production of the film.

The film is a collaboration between Tsubuyara Productions and Industrial Light & Magic. The synopsis of the film is as follows:

“Baseball superstar Ken Sato returns to his home country of Japan to pick up the mantle of Earth-defending superhero Ultraman, but quickly finds more than he bargained for when he's forced to raise the offspring of his greatest foe, a newborn Kaiju. Struggling to balance the roles of teammate and new father, Ken must confront his own ego, his estranged father, and the conniving Kaiju Defense Force to rise up and discover what it truly means to be Ultraman.”

Ultraman: Rising hits Netflix on June 14th, its theatrical screenings will also be on the 14th.
