Trailer For 'Doctor Who' 60th Anniversary Drops Out Of Nowhere Like A TARDIS

A new teaser trailer has dropped for the 60th-anniversary special of Doctor Who and fans are combing through clues as to what could be awaiting David Tennant after his shock regeneration at the end of last season. Although the images appear to be random stock footage, it harks back to the season 13 ‘glitch’ trailer, and Whovians once again have spotted clues in the seemingly nonsensical content.

They’ve zoomed in, reversed, and flipped the short ten-second set of images to find any trace of a message from Russell T Davies and company. There is a coded reference to Star Beasts, a Doctor Who comic which included the Meeps and the Wrath Warriors, both monsters already confirmed to be appearing. The code that appears in the last few seconds (EV1305) also suggests we may get another content drop during Eurovision on 13th May.

We have a brief cut of Catherine Tate in her much-publicized return to the role of Donna Noble. Tennant’s Doctor and his fiery assistant are rumored to be the focus of three episodes, but we’ve yet to hear whether the tenth/fourteenth Doctor will have longevity past that.

Doctor Who is free to stream on BBC iPlayer (UK only) or for an additional cost on Amazon Prime in other territories. It’s time to dig out those stripey scarves, open a packet of jelly babies, and binge-watch the old episodes because we’ve only got until November to prepare for whatever alien species wants to end the world this time.
