Although the first season of the highly anticipated Star Wars show Andor has yet to air its pilot episode, news for Season two has already been revealed. Recently writer and director Tony Gilroy who worked on the spinoff film Rogue One has spoken about the show's timeline and how they decided to tell the story of Cassian Andor. During one of his more recent interviews during press for the show, Gilroy had this to say about the show's production:

”Because we have blocks of three that we shoot the show in and—more of a production thing, really, it was for directors.”

While the show will have multiple directors helming their own “block” of episodes it seems the second season will likely follow suit. Lucasfilm recently revealed that season two of Andor will have the same amount of episodes as season one, making Andor the longest of the Disney+ shows to date with 12 episodes. One thing to note is that season two won’t see the return of Gilroy in the director's chair.

Although Tony Gilroy has a heavy hand in the show’s overall production, he made sure not to jeopardize it by running himself too thin. That is one of the reasons why he will not be directing any episodes of the second season. While speaking with the Playlist Gilroy said this about directing episodes in season two:

“I mean, I had no clue, and if I had directed, I mean, it would’ve been—I don’t know what would’ve happened with the show. The job I have to do now is so all-consuming and so much more than that”
