They’ll Never Stop ‘The Simpsons’… or ‘Family Guy’… or ‘Bob’s Burgers’: All 3 Renewed for 2 More Seasons
The old song They’ll Never Stop The Simpsons might’ve been a joke originally, but it has turned into a prophecy more than anything for the longest-running scripted show of all time. Early last week, Fox ordered two more seasons for The Simpsons, which will be the 35th and 36th seasons of the record-setting animated sitcom.
Family Guy, the hit animated show that has been chasing The Simpsons for years - and shows its self-awareness of its likeness to The Simpsons with countless homages and cross-references - also has been renewed by Fox. Seasons 22 and 23 of Family Guy have been ordered, guaranteeing audiences more of the Griffin family.

Fox also ordered Season 14 and Season 15 for Bob’s Burgers. Compared to most shows, 15 seasons is quite a few, but within Fox’s strong trio of popular animated shows, 15 is a distant third.
But Bob’s Burgers is the highest-rated animated comedy two years running, and the show even enjoyed a boon from its theatrical movie last year. The Simpsons had a theatrical release back in 2007, while Family Guy only has the Blue Harvest parodies and the three episodes “Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story stitched together for a home movie release in its pantheon. That’s not to say The Simpsons don’t have a plethora of amazing Star Wars references. At least Family Guy is rumored to cross over with Fortnite imminently.
“With this trio of renewals, we celebrate excellence in animation on Fox, our wonderful, long-time partnership with 20th Television and the brilliant creators and incredible voices behind these forever favorites.”
Michael Thorn, Fox Entertainment’s president of scripted programming, said in a statement reported by multiple outlets, including Variety. “Three-plus decades of ‘The Simpsons,’ more than two decades of ‘Family Guy’ and over a decade of ‘Bob’s Burgers’ proves the enduring power of the animation genre on our network and the infinite fan affinity for these outrageously funny comedy classics.”
