These Are The 2024 Razzie Nominees

2023 was a big year for films, both acclaimed and unmemorable. Actors and directors strive to be nominated for Oscars and Academy Awards, but the Razzie Award is one award not as coveted. According to organizers of the Razzie Awards, “After strikes, lingerings of a worldwide plague and a general sense of universal agoraphobia, the decline of the cinematic experience goes without saying.” Directors and actors will come together to share the camaraderie in taking part and possibly taking home a “dubious honor”.

Movies that have been nominated for this award so far include Expend4bles, Exorcist: Believer, Meg 2: The Trench, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. In a panel of voters consisting of 1,179 movie buffs, film critics, and journalists from 49 U.S. states and two dozen foreign countries, these Razzie Members will not only vote for the worst film but cast votes for Worst Actor, Worst Actress, Worst Supporting Actor, Worst Supporting Actress, Worst Screen Couple, Worst Director, and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel.

On the ballot for Worst Actor are Michael Douglas from Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, Mel Gibson for his performance in Confidential Informant, Bill Murray sharing the nomination along with Douglas in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania,

Franco Nero’s “The Pope” in The Pope’s Exorcist, and Sylvester Stallone of Expend4ables. Expend4bles is on the ballot additionally for Worst Supporting Actress, Worst Screen Couple, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off, or Sequel. This makes a total of seven Razzie nominations for one film. This narrowly beats the five Razzie nominations given to The Pope’s Exorcist and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.

Though some A-list names such as Chris Evans, Vin Diesel, and Ana de Armas will appear on the ballots, their performances do not tarnish their impressive résumés and diminish their talents to entertain and enhance the “cinematic experience”.
