Power Rangers has been running for nearly 30 years. Throughout its lifetime, it has changed hands numerous times from Saban to Disney and back to Saban and is now under Hasbro's control. However, the brand is now facing its biggest series of shakeups in quite some time. Simon Bennett, the showrunner since Power Rangers Dino Fury, has announced that he would be leaving after the upcoming Power Rangers Cosmic Fury.

The franchise is reportedly heading toward a reboot with a new original team that may or may not be based on or uses elements from the long-running Japanese tokusatsu series Super Sentai. Furthermore, the show will be getting a new showrunner: Jenny Klein (known for The Witcher and Jessica Jones). The next series in development is said to be geared toward a more young adult demographic rather than the children’s demographic in the past, and it will not be filmed in New Zealand, marking the end of the franchise’s 20-year residency in the country. There will be new writers for the series, which seems to be marking a new era for the franchise.

Though there is a lot of uncertainty regarding the future of the franchise, it seems the world of the Power Rangers is expanding. In the meantime, fans can look forward to Power Rangers Cosmic Fury coming to Netflix later this year.
