The Third Movie In Marvel Studios Phase Six Announcement During SDCC Is 'Avengers: Secret Wars'

Marvel Studios has provided fans with a glimpse deep into the future at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. One of the most notable announcements was that of a Phase Six feature film, entitled Avengers: Secret Wars, scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 7, 2025.

As this release will be toward the end of Phase Six and is still over three years away, Marvel has not released any other information, but there are several different comic series with the name Secret Wars that can provide insight and fuel speculation.

One occurrence of the Secret Wars title can be found in a twelve-issue limited series of comics published from May 1984 to April 1985. In this storyline, a cosmic being known as “The Beyonder” kidnaps superheroes and supervillains to watch them fight on a distant planet called “Battleworld.” A comic book release from 2015 also goes by the name Secret Wars, and not only involves Battleworld, but also includes the collision and destruction of multiple universes. As the MCU has already made several references to the multiverse and the dangers of universes interacting (and has officially welcomed us to “The Multiverse Saga” in a tweet), speculation on the 2025 Secret Wars film heavily involves multiversal conflict and war.

Additional speculation adds that, if Marvel is ever looking to move towards any kind of reboot, the canon destruction of a universe is certainly one way to do it.
