Christmas comes early this year with the release of the first trailer for the new Disney+ original series The Santa Clauses. The trailer and release date were both announced on Saturday at the D23 Expo in Anaheim. The show features Tim Allen’s return as Santa Claus 16 years after the final installment of The Santa Clause trilogy. In the trailer, Santa announces to the elves that he will be retiring and selecting a new Santa Claus ahead of his 65th birthday.

The trailer teases some familiar faces. Elizabeth Mitchell is returning as Mrs. Carol Clause, and David Krumholtz is reprising the fan-favorite role of Bernard the Elf. Peyton Manning even makes a cameo in an interview for the coveted role of Santa Claus. The cast also includes Elizabeth Allen-Dick as Sandra, Devin Bright as Noel, Austin Kane as Cal, Matilda Lawler as Betty, Rupali Redd as Grace, Laura San Giacomo as a Christmas witch, and Kal Penn as Simon Choski.

Tim Allen made an appearance on stage in Anaheim with the rest of the cast for the series announcement. When asked why he decided to return to the role, Allen jokingly answered, “Because you people made me.”

Allen revealed that the series will answer many long-standing questions, including why the elves were not worried about his initial appearance as Santa Claus, the fact that Mrs. Claus did not have a name, and whether or not there were other human children in the North Pole.

The Santa Clauses will release the first two episodes of its six-episode run on November 16, streaming exclusively on Disney+. The series is sure to be a new holiday favorite for fans of the original movie.
