'The Rings Of Power' Wins Big For Prime Video With Five Awards From The Visual Effects Society And Art Directors Guild
Back in September, The Rings of Power captivated audiences with its stunning scenery and original story. The effort seems to have paid off as the creative team is claiming five awards from the Visual Effects Society (VES) and the Art Directors Guild.
The episode “Udûn” took home awards from the VES for the categories Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photo Real Episode and Outstanding Effects Simulations in an Episode, Commercial, or Real-Time Project. Jason Smith, Ron Ames, Nigel Summer, Tom Proctor, and Dean Clarke worked on the visual effects while Rick Hankins, Aron Bonar, Branko Grujcic, and Laurent Kermel handled the effect simulations. “Númenor City” as seen in the episode “Adar” won an award for Outstanding Created Environment In An Episode, Commercial, or Real-Time Project with Dan Wheaton, Nico Delbecq, Dan Letarte, and Julian Gauthier credited for work on the project.

The Art Directors Guild handed the same episode an award under the category One-Hour Fantasy Single-Camera Series. The commercial “Title Announcement” by Brian Branstetter claimed an award under the commercials category.
