'The Rings Of Power' Soundtrack Debuts On UK Charts

The Rings of Power season two debuted on Amazon Prime on August 29th and Bear McCreary’s score is already making waves. Reminiscent of the original Howard Shore mix, it’s barrelled into the UK Soundtrack Charts, peaking at number seventeen but now on its second week at forty-nine. It didn’t quite make the main albums list, but considering that the score is largely instrumental, it is a monumental achievement.
The Lord of the Rings franchise has a history of bringing ethereal classical-style music to the masses. Season One of The Rings of Power reached a peak of fifteen on the UK Soundtrack Albums Chart and twenty-eight on the UK Album Downloads Chart. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack charted in eighteen countries and reached the number two slot on the UK Album chart and number twenty-nine on the US Billboard 200. This was in part due to the popularity of "May it Be", composed and sung by Irish solo recording artist and Clanad lead singer, Enya. May it Be was nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars that year, and it also took home a Grammy.
Although it is too early to see if Bear McCreary’s The Rings of Power soundtrack will reach the same critical acclaim, it appears to be popular with the fans.
