N7 Day passed with an interesting update from BioWare, the game developer of the Mass Effect franchise: a new teaser was released! Clocking in at about 34 seconds, the clip features a character bearing the N7 insignia and is armed, strutting across the threshold to the currently unknown. The teaser trailer may have been pretty short, but it got fans excited all over again; unfortunately, it may be a while before the game is released.

In an episode of Giant Bomb’s Game Mess Mornings, hosts Jeff Grubb and Tamoor Hussain brought the future of the game up. Grubb explained that according to their sources, “This game is just nowhere near coming out.”  He continued, “I was told that when they revealed Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2018, this is similar in terms of timeline. That was announced in 2018 and we’re not getting that game until maybe next year.” Hussain chimed in, stating the release to be “so far away” that it’s “in another galaxy right now.” Mass Effect 5 was first announced in 2020, meaning that its release window could aim for 2028-2029, going by this news.
