The Next 'Star Trek' Film Has Been Removed From Paramount's Release Schedule
The fourth Star Trek film in the reboot series has been removed from Paramount’s release schedule. It was originally scheduled to be released on June 9, 2023. It was then moved to December 22, 2023. The decision came a month after the director, Matt Shakman, stepped down from the production. He left Star Trek to focus on the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. All is not lost, however. Paramount is searching for a new director. A new release date will likely be scheduled when the new director is attached to the project. There are no rumors about who that might be yet.
The main cast of the other three movies is still attached to this project including Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, and Simon Pegg. The script has also been completed. It was written by Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet. They will be the first female screenwriters in the Star Trek cinematic franchise. The recent three movies have all been produced by J.J. Abrams and they have taken in $1.96 billion. The fourth movie has been struggling to get off the ground. Since Star Trek: Beyond the was talk of a Kirk father/son story, a pitch involving Fargo’s Noah Hawley, and one involving Quentin Tarantino.
