The 5-week season 4 kickoff of Titans is more than halfway done. Doom Patrol takes over from there with the start of its fourth season and so HBO Max released a trailer for it on Tuesday.

In it, Kip Willoughby (played by Mark Sheppard) confirms and warns of the imminent arrival of Immortus. While that is the name of the future self of Kang the Conqueror on the Marvel side, it belongs to General Immortus in the realm of DC. General Immortus debuted in the Doom Patrol’s first story in the comics and has been one of their primary foes since. He is a character at least centuries old, perhaps more rooted in ancient history. His true origins have always been a mystery. Viewers more adept to previous television adaptations may recognize him as a member of the Brotherhood of Evil in the fifth season of the Teen Titans animated series. The team must also confront their past at a time before the tragedies that got them their powers. Whether they actually go back in time or just embody their physical selves from that time is unclear.

The series this season stars Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele (Robotman), April Bowlby as Rita Farr (Elasti-Woman), Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor (Negative Man),  Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Joivan Wade as Victor Stone (Cyborg) and Michelle Gomez as Laura de Mille (Madame Rouge). Sendhil Ramamurthy is set to recur as Mr. 104. Doom Patrol’s fourth season premieres on December 8 with two episodes. Weekly releases follow until January 5, and the show is scheduled to return with the back six before 2023 ends.
