As promised by Ryan Reynolds yesterday, the second full trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine dropped this morning, and it may be the best two-and-a-half minutes on the internet right now. Before we break down the trailer, let's hit some highlights. The multiverse and a flirtation with the MCU’s TVA are teased, as seen in the first trailer. Also, in the first trailer, the likely big bad, Cassandra Nova, played by Emma Corrin, is seen only briefly from the back. In this second installment, while also brief, fans will see her on screen more. It’s worth noting that Cassandra is Professor Xavior’s sister.

Hugh’s Jackman’s Logan sits at a bar, as fans have seen him do more than once. Cue Deadpool, who walks right up to Logan in his delightfully blunt, demanding way and tells the former X-Man to come with him. Deadpool then references a time crunch and attempts to lift Logan like a toddler when turned down. One can imagine how well-received that move is. A brief snapshot revisits Wolverine approaching Deadpool on the ground wearing the iconic yellow and blue suit from the comics. The viewer is whisked to Wade’s birthday party in the next sequence.

Back to Logan and Deadpool, he tells him in no uncertain terms that Wade’s concern over losing everyone he ever cared about is not his problem, to which Deadpool replies with, “Is that what you said when your world went to s***?” This gets Logan’s attention, and then the scene spans back to Logan in his white t-shirt on his knees in a dark forest, then back to him suited up on the floor at the TVA, dead. A TVA representative says, “This Wolverine let down his entire world.” Following that scene, the audience flashes forward to the comedic banter that fans would expect between the titular characters, followed by some fight sequences before seeing the two on a seemingly united front. They discuss more as Madonna’s “Like A Prayer” plays over them. The next set of bloody fighting sequences finds the heroes fighting together. Cassandra speaks softly, “Boys are so silly,” and then is seen sparring with Wolverine, using her telekinetic abilities against him. A few explosions later, the heroes have had enough and are ready to go!

Deadpool & Wolverine is set to hit theaters on July 26, 2024!
