The Mandalorian Will Wrap Filming In Spring 2022
Ever since the end of The Mandalorian Season 2, there have been rumors going around as to whether or not there would be a Season 3. There was some confusion due to The Book of Boba Fett’s announcement, but it was soon cleared up and it was confirmed that we are indeed getting a Season 3 of The Mandalorian.
Bespin Bulletin posted on Twitter recently announcing an update on the filming of The Mandalorian Season 3. There has been a lot of secrets and unknowns surrounding this season of The Mandalorian, which is no surprise when it comes to Star Wars and Lucasfilm/Disney. However, it has been confirmed that The Mandalorian Season 3 is in the process of filming, and with Bespin Bulletin’s Tweets from September 2021, we have some more information on the filming of the series. A few weeks ago, BespinBulletin.com Tweeted: “‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 will film from September to March! My sources close to the production confirm!”

This announcement was followed with another Tweet a couple weeks later that stated: “Just an update on this. They began filming last week at Manhattan Beach studios. They’re filming - they’ve been filming for over a week. No, Pedro isn’t there. They’ll be filming at the train yard sometime in October. This is the way.”
Production Weekly had originally posted that they were going to start production on The Mandalorian Season 3 starting on September 20th, however, there have been a lot of “false start dates” reported by even the most reputable sources. Many rumors have been circulating as to when and where they are actually starting to film the third season. A few weeks ago, Production Weekly again posted, confirming the start date of September 20th, 2021 for production, and further added that production and filming will wrap up March 23rd, 2022. According to the sources from BespinBulletin.com, this does seem to be the correct dates, and line up with what other sources are saying as well.
That being said, on September 20th, The Mandalorian Season 3 started filming at Manhattan Beach Studios. In October, they are projected to be filming at a train yard as well. Of course, we still don’t know when the release date will be of The Mandalorian Season 3. However, doing some simple math, we can at least potentially project when it will be released. For the last 2 seasons, the episodes have been released about eleven to thirteen months after the seasons have begun filming. The Book of Boba Fett also ran the same way, beginning filming in November 2020 and is officially releasing episodes in December 2021, thirteen months later. Of course, this mapped out timeline might not be entirely accurate, given that this season of The Mandalorian is projected to take six months to film, longer than the four months that the previous two have taken. The Book of Boba Fett has taken the longest, clocking in at seven months of filming, so it is entirely probable that the cast and crew are taking a little longer with projects due to Covid-19 protocols.
Of course, the filming news is still very limited and we aren’t likely to learn much more for awhile about The Mandalorian Season 3, but for now, fans can rest assured that they are in the midst of production, and it will be wrapping up early 2022. Star Wars fans have so much to look forward to with several new Disney+ series coming out in the next year. Along with The Mandalorian Season 3, we also get to see The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, and a second season of The Bad Batch. Not to mention all the new and revamped Star Wars video games coming out in 2021 and 2022. There will be more news to come!
