Amazon is gearing up to bring fans back to the world of Middle-Earth with season 2 of Rings of Power on August 29. In the week leading up to the season premiere, the soundtrack will go on sale. Bear McCreary composed the soundtrack for the first season and returned for the second season bringing help with him.

The Grammy-nominated Rufus Wainwright crafted a rendition of “Old Tom Bombadil” while fellow Grammy-nominated Jens Kidman uses her metal experience in “The Ballad of Damrod,” which recounts the story of a vicious Hill-troll. Even with the wide spectrum of music, McCreary makes a point to turn to Tolkien’s writings for inspiration. He said, “I am honored to continue forward on this journey, bringing the events

Some of the cast are included in the compositions as well. Sophia Nomvette, Benjamin Walker, Rory Kinnear, and Daniel Weyman contribute to the scores in various ways. Nomvette plays Dwarven Princess Disa and sings to the mountains as she did in the first season. In his role as an Elven King, Walker sings a sad tune in Tokien’s Elvish language. Kinnear as Tom Bombadil, and Weyman as the Stranger team up for a reprise of “Old Tom Bombadil.” According to Bob Bowen, Amazon MGM Studios’ worldwide head of music, “This new soundtrack is a stunning companion to the series’ continued exploration of the Second Age. With the debut of season two on the horizon, we’re excited to give fans a further glimpse into the epic series.” The soundtrack will be available on digital and streaming on August 23 while pre-orders for vinyl will begin on that date. Fans can order a special Collector’s Edition exclusively on Amazon Music. To further highlight the score, Amazon will release a weekly soundtrack album, with music entirely from that week’s episode.
