The Kansas City Chiefs And Hallmark Channel Have Teamed Up To Develop A Holiday Romance Movie
I mean… huh?
Not content to currently be the second most hated team in the NFL (the Cowboys do still exist) the winners of the last two Super Bowls, the Kansas City (Missouri, not Kansas) Chiefs, are teaming up with the Hallmark Channel to make a Christmas-themed film. Because…why not. The film is being made not only to capitalize on the Chiefs’ recent success, but also the highly publicized romance between pop superstar Taylor Swift and future Hall of Fame Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce.
According to reports, the film will be about the head of fan relations for the Chiefs meeting a young woman who is vying for “Fan of the Year”. It will be unclear if she raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for St. Jude’s to secure the win, as Green Bay Packers YouTuber Tom Grossi did this past year. In any case, from there, it will follow the typical Hallmark format. Boy and girl meet and fall in love, probable second act breakup due to misunderstanding, then getting back together at the end of the movie.

Hallmark has definitely carved a niche out for itself. It’s not exactly pumping out Best Picture winners, but people like it because it’s familiar and charming in its own way. The fact that the network is teaming up with the Chiefs to make a movie is interesting, and possibly opens the doors for more football-themed movies. Maybe one about a Philadelphia Eagles fan falling in love with a Dallas Cowboy’s fan?
Nah, too farfetched.
