The First Trailer For Disney's Live-Action 'Snow White' Has Released
Magic Mirror on the Wall, the first trailer for the live-action fairest of them all has been released. Set to be in theaters March 21, 2025, the trailer opens with the titular Snow White, portrayed by Rachel Zegler, dressed in rags and staring mournfully out of a window cleaning her deceased father’s castle. His kingdom, once a “kingdom of fairness”, was overtaken by the Evil Queen, played by Gal Gadot of Wonder Woman fame. While it appears that the dynamic of Snow White and the Evil Queen is expanded upon and their interactions given more camera time, the trailer keeps some aspects of the original 1937 film such as the Evil Queen set to destroy Snow White only for her to run into the forest and find the cottage of the seven dwarves, all of which still have their original names.
What makes this Snow White stand out from its predecessors is Zegler’s character wanting to save her people from the tyranny of the Evil Queen. Despite this being seen in 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman, Snow White adheres to the familiar light and colorful Disney aesthetic and gives Snow White a “power ballad” Waiting on a Wish to show off Zegler’s impressive vocal range. It’s unknown if “Someday My Prince Will Come” will be featured, as it was not heard in the trailer. Zegler has mentioned in interviews that the prince doesn’t save her. This declaration, while going against the original film, has the chance to allow Snow White and Snow White to foster a new identity of love, kindness, and fairness for its eventual viewers.
