The First Teaser For 'Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom' Has Been Released
During the past few years of theatrical releases from DC Studios, fans don’t seem to gravitate towards the franchises of lead intellectual properties such as The Flash and Shazam! Fury of the Gods or even Blue Beetle. However, the studio helmed by James Gunn and Peter Safran released a teaser trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, announcing the full trailer to debut worldwide on September 14th. The film stars Jason Momoa as the King of Atlantis alongside Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Nicole Kidman. James Wan helms the director’s chair once more.
The synopsis was released from Warner Bros., and DC reads in part, “Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time, Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family and the world from irreversible destruction.
The film was held up from releasing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, alongside a slew of postproduction issues, and this is to be the final film before the complete DC Studios brand is rebooted under the James Gunn and Peter Safran leadership.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom opens on December 20.
