The First Images From Apple TV+'s 'Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters' Have Been Released
After rampaging through the box office in Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kong, and the future sequel Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the classic monsters are making their way to the small screen. Apple TV+’s upcoming series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters takes place after the destruction of San Francisco and the discovery of monsters in the 2014 Godzilla film. The show will focus on two siblings that trace their father’s path and find their family’s connection to the Monarch organization. A trail of clues takes them to the world of monsters and leads them to Army officer Lee Shaw who is played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell. The show is split between Shaw’s time in the 1950s and 50 years later when the siblings discover him.
To drum up excitement for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Apple TV+ shared some images from the series. The images show Godzilla attacking a school bus in a heavy downpour and images of Lee Shaw in the 1950s and the show’s present day. Chris Black and Matt Fraction are co-developing the series joined by Matt Shakman, Andy Goddard, Brad Van Arragon, Andrew Colville, Joby Harold, and Tony Turrell as executive producers. The Russell family is joined by Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tibbett, and Elisa Lasowski to round out the cast. Although no release date is announced yet, the images are a good indication that more news is on the way.
